Meet the Team

Jordan Mizzell, M.Ed., LPC, NCC

I believe that making meaningful changes in our lives often requires us to confront issues from our past to break out of patterns that are holding us back. Most of my clients find that past experiences and stresses of the present collide in ways that bring up feelings of being lost, alone, stuck, anxious, or frustrated. My goal as a therapist is to bring light into those dark places by facilitating your journey forward to greater self-awareness, more effective communication, healthier relationships, and an overall more authentic and fulfilling life.

I am committed to creating a non-judgmental and supportive environment for my clients to explore any and all challenges they are facing while providing guidance on strategies to foster desired changes. I offer a holistic approach to therapy, considering ways the mind and body are connected. Though I tailor counseling techniques to the individual needs of each client; DBT, CBT, motivational interviewing, and person centered techniques are modalities I most frequently utilize. I have over a decade of experience working with clients of various ages and backgrounds. I am LGBTQIA, racial injustice, and disability injustice affirming; and strive to provide a supportive environment for my clients to openly discuss related issues.

My greatest joy as a therapist is to see clients gain a more true and positive perspective of themselves and what they offer the world. Together we will identify achievable steps you can take to reach your goals, break out of old patterns, and better connect with your best self.

Rhonda S. Smith, M.A., LPC

I graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a M.A. in Counseling concentrating on Clinical Mental Health and a B.S. in Psychology. Children and adults face crucial periods in their lives that impact how they perceive the world around them. Life can be overwhelming at times as one tries to navigate multiple obstacles that influence one's daily functioning. By using a client-centered approach, I believe in supporting individuals and families in achieving their therapeutic goals to improve their quality of life. I practice child-centered play therapy (CCPT) to provide a safe space for children to process their experiences and express themselves through play.

I have worked with youth and adults experiencing trauma, depression, anxiety, and grief. I have also worked with youth who have a history of externalizing behaviors related to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Impulse Control Disorders. I am passionate about working with children, adolescents and adults. I hope to provide a supportive environment for all age groups during their healing process and to work towards gaining healthier means of coping with the challenges life may bring.

I am currently working towards obtaining my certification as a registered play therapist under the supervision of Dr. James Jackson, PhD, LPC-S, NCC, RPT-S. .

Insight, motivation, purpose. These three words describe how I can help. Are you looking to gain insight into your struggles? Motivation to grow and get better as a person? Looking for someone to come along side you in your journey to find purpose in life? We can work together as your story unfolds, taking your past and present experiences to make a plan for a healthy, fulfilling, more purposeful future. We can work together to identify and practice techniques and skills that will benefit you and help you to thrive in your relationships and in life.

As a Counselor and Certified Yoga Instructor, I assist clients in addressing anxiety, depression, addiction, chronic pain, and stress, while occasionally assimilating yoga concepts into counseling with incredible results in those seeking to more effectively manage these issues. I also work with couples struggling with communication and sexual desire discrepancies.

As a product of two successful Marriage and Family Therapists, my knowledge of counseling began at an exceptionally young age! After 27 years of marriage to my best friend, we continue raising our 4 children (adult & teen), celebrating our shared interests of the outdoors, and spending time with family!

Bailey Yancey, LCSW, PIP

“When we can accept the past, we no longer have the need for a different present.” (Douglas Abrams, The Book of Joy).

I have worked in mental health for the past 15 years. My diverse experience has enabled me to offer a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space for others. I use a Client centered approach and believe in individualizing therapy for each of my Clients. One size does not fit all in the world of therapy. I view therapy as a form of self care and preventative health care. I believe therapy can allow us to grow our strengths and help us integrate past experiences while being grounded in the present.

I believe in the importance of helping Clients build insight into their emotions, thoughts, actions, and bodies. I work from a trauma informed and trauma sensitive perspective.

I am particularly interested in mental health care for women and perinatal mental health. I work with expecting parents, those dealing with miscarriage and loss, and also infertility.

I have experience working with Clients with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief/loss, life transitions, self-esteem issues. I often see Clients with reports of feeling "stuck." I enjoy working with these Clients to navigate problems and learn to approach conflict or barriers in their lives versus avoiding these things. Clients trying therapy for the first time are welcome here as well. I strive to meet all Clients where they are in their lives and focus on the goals that feel the most important to them.

I received EMDR training in 2022 and will often integrate components of this into my work.
